Run Clinics

Train Smart Coaching has coached athletes of all fitness levels on proper run form and biomechanics, developing and improving speed and efficiency to run with less effort, gain muscular strength, build aerobic endurance, address common causes of run-related injuries and how to avoid them and the list goes on. Proper running mechanics are vital to improving speed while simultaneously reducing effort. An efficient runner can cover the same amount of distance at the same speed as a less efficient runner with extra energy to spare. Running economy is the most trainable part of running. The entire body should be considered when addressing run mechanics. It makes sense that we find the most efficient way to enjoy running without pain, discomfort and injuries.
Train Smart Coaching clinics teach you how to run more efficiently with less effort and fatigue, correct posture and alignment, build speed, endurance, strength and much more. Being evaluated by a knowledgeable professional coach is the first step toward improving your running progress. There was a time when endurance athletes avoided strength training for fear of gaining weight and/or bulky muscles that could produce adverse effects on their performance. Studies have found that endurance athletes can benefit greatly from a well structured strength program. The greatest benefit of sport specific strength training as it relates to running is the prevention of injuries.
This co-ed hands-on clinic is pared down to fit into a normal athletes lifestyle while including exercies and routines that will produce the most gain in the least amount of time. Even if you had more time to visit the gym, the benefits would not be much greater. Resistance training is now used in just about every sport for improved performance as well as for injury prevention. Strength training has become an important part of a well rounded and balanced annual training plan. If prescribed correctly, sport specific speed, strength, power and agility can give you a competitive edge. Incorporating resistance training into your triathlon, cycling,or running plan can be difficult. You need the correct mix of exercises and resistance incorporated at the right time to be maximally effective.
